Hanson
(Judaic studies, Univ. of Central Florida) here introduces lay readers
to writings generally referred to as the pseudepigrapha and apocrypha,
or, as he calls them, the "Lost Books." He uses the
12th-century Kabbalists' Four Worlds to help explain how these
noncanonical texts can influence people and how they can serve as a path
for improving peoples' lives. Having already distanced these
texts from the Judeo-Christian tradition by calling them lost, Hanson
ends up writing something like a self-help book with biblical
connections. He does a good job of tying together his personal journey
to self-discovery and livelihood with his discussion of these texts.
Libraries can consider purchasing this book where there are atypical
